Allen Williams Memorial Award

Allen Williams was a man of incredible vision, with a tremendous “joie de vivre.” He and his colleague, Steve Sutton, were tragically killed in a plane crash which Allen’s 3 year old granddaughter Kate, miraculously survived. There were many people in the community involved in getting her out safely; and also in the recovery of Allen and Steve - particularly Golden Search & Rescue.

In appreciation of the local rescue services in Golden and Area A, all contributions from loved ones were graciously allocated to establish a fund in his honor. His passion for adventure was only eclipsed by the profound affection he harbored for his family, friends, and above all, his beloved wife, Dorothy.

Each year approximately $2,000 is available to local rescue services.
